After getting the gifts ready to go, packing the car and getting it ready for the journey I made a quick stop to head up Jackson's holiday party at school. After the party Jimmy had returned home from work early and we hopped in to make the first leg of our trip. It was actually a very nice trip because the kids were asleep for most of it. We stayed the night at a really nasty motel where Luke decided to begin his two week stint of waking up nearly every hour. In the morning, we drove the last 5 or so hours which involved much crying and whining. But, alas, we did make it. It was wonderful to be home again and we got to meet Anna, my sister Kim's six month old baby for the first time! So cute!
The next day was my sister, Stephanie's, wedding. Other than us being twenty minutes late for the ceremony, it was a great day. The ceremony was held at our dear friends home in Virginia. They have an amazing home right on the river. It was such a lovely setting. Thank goodness Stephanie decided to move things indoors, though! We were able to meet her intended, Cliff, as we walked in the door and 15 minutes later we had a new family member. We ended up staying at the ceremony site and getting to talk to our friends for a couple of hours prior to the reception. The reception itself was very nice and I loved seeing so many people that I hadn't seen in some time. This was the beginning of a pretty long sick period for Luke. He slept on our shoulders the whole time. The fact that he fell asleep at 8:30 am while sitting next to my father and watching Jackson jump around should have been the first clue. Look how tired my father looks after our very first night of his home invasion.
