Grant at one

Dear Grant-i-pooh,

How shocked we were to learn that you were coming to our family! We couldn't imagine having two little ones in less than two years! Now that you have been with us for a whole year, we would be SO sad if we didn't have your incredibly vibrant personality in our home.

You are a playful little guy. Whether it is charming strangers by smiling and burying your head on Mommy's shoulder after they say hello, or giving new people the evil eye if you aren't being held, you capture many peoples hearts. You love to click your tongue on the roof of your mouth and watch as others imitate you. You especially like doing this in the middle of nursing.  When someone picks you up, you like to pat them on the back a few times.

You LOVE your brothers. No one can make you laugh like your big brother Luke. You think that he is hilarious. You also love when Jackson holds you and reads to you, you know you can always count on him.

You really like to swing at the park and you are a little dancer.

You are the most vocal baby that I've ever heard! If you are awake you are making noise. You may be imitating, yelling, crying or (your favorite) whining for nearly all of your waking hours. I think you can say "this", "hi" and "uh-oh".  You also yell "oh" whenever a basketball goes into the hoop.

You know exactly what you want and when you want it. You already have quite the temper and will scream and hit yourself or bang your head on the floor if you don't get your way.  You hate driving in the car.

You love to throw and chase balls and to be outside. You have four teeth that just emerged. You began crawling when you were 9/10 months old.  You are a ferocious climber. Even though you can't walk or stand on your own yet, you can climb onto the tip of the couch to turn the lights on and off. You have even been known to try and use the pictures hanging above the couch to get even higher.

You still wake up several times every night...

I cannot even count how many people have stopped me at stores and commented on how long your fingers are.

It is your mission to smack your brother's pacifier out of his mouth.  You must be restrained before your brother can lie down to get his diaper changed because you enjoy smacking him in the face.

You have not eaten any dairy, soy or corn products for most of your first year. When we went to the allergist to try to give you your first bottle of milk, you refused it. (Even though you hadn't eaten in 12 hours and the doctor poured sugar into the milk.)

You seem to be a picky eater but would eat bags of veggie chips every day if you were given the chance. One of your favorite games is to hold on to the back of the couch and flop down on your backside over and over again.

You are such a fun addition to our family and we know you will keep us on our toes for years to come. We love you little Grant!

Love,

Mommy, Daddy, Jackson and Luke

Grant turned one on May 7th. Grandma Helen and Pop Pop came out to celebrate with us.
